The Worthington was made by Artply. It measures 49" x 19" x 30" with two wing extensions and consists of 10 rooms.
This dollhouse was started on Feb. 16, 09 and one of the features that I particularly like about this house is that the side wings both have an upstairs and the door entrances are already cut out for you.
I've never built a dollhouse this massive. I'm really looking forward to decorating this one. The front has a balcony in the center along with pillars for the porch. This dollhouse is a charm and is going together just beautifully.
The Worthington is all wired and now to move on to ceilings and flooring.
The upstairs hallway/sewing room (left) and bedroom/livingroom flooring (right) is now finished. The rest of the floors will be tiled or I may use printies for the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room floors. I've not yet decided what to do for the attic rooms.
These two pictures show from the interior and exterior of the house where the skylight placements will be. The one on the right from the front is finished.
This is the finished skylight from outside and inside. Now I have three more to do.
The skylights have all been finished now and next on the list is the verandah and balcony. I still have no idea what I am going to do for the exterior of this house.
The upper exterior window trim is installed and the lower bow windows are in. I haven't done the rooves on these yet.
Flooring installed in the extensions.
The staircases haven't been put in yet. I wanted to see how they would look. I'm not sure if I will keep them.
The siding strips have been painted and the color I chose is called Sweet Carolina. I did the rooves on the bow windows and put the corner strips on.
I spent the day putting up boards under the roof and doing the porch flooring. The balcony has also been done. I've yet to paint or stain the boards, actually I'm not even sure I like the look. The balcony door is not ready yet and the frame needs to be stained. Once that is done, I will install the siding and put the pillars up.
Another morning spent working on the siding. I'll be happy when it's finished.
The siding is finished and now I've got to finish the porch pillars. The shingles will come next. The doors are not installed yet.
Two porch lights have been installed but there will be a third above the balcony door.
The third porch light has been installed.
Since the livingroom is so large, I thought wainscotting and a fireplace might work well. I've spent the last few days making them and used a picture of my daughter's wedding to put above the fireplace. Nothing has been installed yet as I have lots to do beforehand. Everything is in dry fit for now.
Just a few touch ups and the exterior will be finished. At least the shingles are now done!
Today I wallpapered and installed the wainscotting and chair rail as well as the crown molding.
The wallpaper was designed by Sandie Burchell.
I had made this sofa set awhile ago and hadn't used it, I thought I would try it here.
The laundry room is pretty much finished other than some curtains and a light which will come later. I made the wicker laundry basket, clothes hanger and the hangers with some crocheted thread around them. The boxes are all printies and the cupboards are Michael's hutches. The dress was made from a tutorial by Melissa on the Greenleaf forum.
Hand-made Door Leading to the Laundry Room
The Arts & Crafts furniture in the diningroom were all handmade by me. This is the first dollhouse I've built since making the furniture that has been large enough to house them. I also continued with the wainscotting into this room from the livingroom. The bouquet of roses on the table were a gift from Teresa Martens. There are still some things left to do such as trim around the kitchen door, putting in a chandelier and making drapes.
