The Brookwood by Greenleaf was started September 08. The chimney runs the height of the building so it had to be worked on in the beginning. At this point the paper clay is drying and far from finished.
I've stained the stair treads and gave the whole fireplace a dirty wash. More colors will be added to it. I will be making the templates for the bottom flooring. After that, on to paperclaying the second floor fireplace and also the back of it. The railing will be added later to the stairs.
I've done some wiring and made the template for the bottom floor. I had purchased some beautiful hardwood flooring from the Greenleaf store that I'll most likely use for the flooring in this dollhouse.
The chimney is finished now and I've added on the bathroom to the end. I've also made some stairs for the 2nd floor. All my floor templates have been made. I'm not happy about the railings on the 2nd and 3rd floors and I'm trying to figure out a way to be able to leave them off. I can probably leave the 2nd floor one off but the 3rd floor railing also holds the roof in place so I will have to try to come up with some other idea.
I installed the carpeting today and I love the color. It really looks very rich against the stone chimney and the dark hardwood flooring.
I've used Greenleaf's hardwood flooring for the floors and I'm leaving off the railings. I just need to find another way to hold up the floor. I'll probably use the landing of the staircase to place a pole of some sort to hold it up. I'm sure there will be something I can come up with.
The skylights are in and I used wallpaper from Home Depot for the ceilings. While working on the sunroom, I ruined the two side windows and then had to make my own out of transparencies. I'll be making a wicker patio set and lots of plants for this room.
I've made all the lights other than the one above the stairs but I hope to change that soon. I made lamps for the livingroom and sconces for the bathroom. There is still alot of trim work that needs to be done and some of the windows haven't been installed yet. The second floor stairs were handmade by me and the runner was printed out on fabric. The livingroom lamps were made from Fimo.
Today I did alot of trim work, some baseboards and crown moldings. Still have lots yet to do.
I tiled the patio, cut down the balcony railing so I could add the fence. It's just taped for now. I put some windows in and got the outside ready to be stuccoed. I need to install the doors and trim first though.
I'm in the process of stuccoing the exterior. This is going to take me some time as it's very tedious work.
I've finished the exterior of the dollhouse.
The exterior of the Brookwood is finished and it's now time to put the shingles on.
The sunroom is very tiny and doesn't allow for too many furnishings. I had made the plants and wicker some time ago.
I need to make some window trim since this kit didn't come with any. All the furniture I had made awhile ago (other than the gun cabinet which isn't staying) and always thought this would be the perfect house for them.
The Brookwood all lit up.
What a difference window trim makes!
The livingroom drapes are made.
I've added another wicker chair and took the backs off.
Today was a day for making curtains for these three rooms, bathroom, kitchen and office.
The dressed bed was created by Deb from Deb's Minis. The curtains are finished and now I'm moving on to my next build, The Worthington by Artply.
