The Beacon Hill by wenlaine
The Beacon Hill by Greenleaf was my first attempt at building a dollhouse.  I had recently finished a floral course and our year ending project was to make three miniature floral arrangements in three different time periods.  After the course ended, I wanted a place to display them and that's how I got into building my first dollhouse.  From there, I realized how much I loved building and decorating dollhouses.  In the end, I never did use the tiny arrangements.
This was the beginning.  If I had only known I would have painted the staircase before installing it and also wallpapered or painted that side wall.
A few weeks later,  March 11, 2004
These pictures were taken March 25, 2004 and I've put the shingles on the mansard roof and installed the dormer windows as well as the front porch.
These 3 pictures were taken today, April 11, 04 and all that remains for me to do is the siding and painting.  I should mention that this dollhouse is huge,  standing approx. 3 1/2 feet with the tower.   Finally, I will soon be doing the most interesting things,  the interior decorating,  wallpapering, painting and flooring and most of all furnishing.
Most of these rooms are a work in progress and hopefully one day, I will be able to say, "it's finished" and mean it.  The rugs in the kitchen and main bedroom were designed and made by me as well as most of the drapes and curtains. The wall to wall carpeting in the livingroom and second bedroom were bought as was most of the furniture.  The hatbox was made of paper and the picture above the fireplace in the master bedroom is of my husband's grandparents in the early 1900's.

The drapes and the dishes in the cupboard were handmade by me.  The cupboard was a HOM kit.
The rug in the kitchen was cross stitched by me.
I had cross stitched this rug specifically for this bedroom.
